When we refund, and when we do not.
Published in full because a policy nobody can find is not a policy. It covers care plans, hosting, project milestones and one-off work, and it is the same policy we apply to ourselves.
1The short version
Recurring plans are charged in advance and cancellable on 30 days’ notice; we do not refund a part-used month. Annual plans are refunded for the whole months you have not used, at the monthly rate. Project payments are milestone-based and are refundable only for work not yet done.
The rest of this page is that, in enough detail to be useful when something has gone wrong.
2Monthly care and hosting plans
Monthly plans are charged in advance on the same date each month. They can be cancelled at any time with 30 days’ written notice, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period. You keep the service until then.
We do not refund a part-used month. If you cancel on the 20th, the plan runs to the end of that period and stops. This is the same rule in both directions: we do not pro-rate a month you have had the benefit of, and we do not charge you for one you have not started.
3Annual plans
An annual plan is twelve months for the price of ten, charged once, up front. You can cancel one at any time on the same 30 days’ notice.
The refund is the whole months you have not used, calculated at the monthly rate rather than the discounted one. In other words, the two free months are given back if you leave early. A worked example, on Care Essential at ₹4,999 a month or ₹49,990 a year. You give notice in month five, so the plan runs to the end of month six and you have used six months at ₹4,999, which is ₹29,994. The refund is ₹49,990 − ₹29,994 = ₹19,996. Part months are not refunded, and the notice period is used, not refunded.
This is said the same way at checkout, so nobody discovers it here for the first time.
4Project work
Projects are billed in three milestones: 50% before work begins, 40% when you approve the staging build, and 10% at launch. The site does not go live until 90% is paid.
- Before work begins. The advance is fully refundable up to the point we start. Once discovery, design or development has started it is not, because the time has been spent.
- During the build. If you stop the project we invoice the work completed to that point at ₹1,500 / $25 an hour against the milestone already paid, and refund the balance. You get the files and the design work produced so far.
- Discovery sprints. A paid discovery sprint is a deliverable in its own right — you receive the scope document — and is not refundable once delivered. Its fee is credited against the build if you go ahead.
- Third-party costs. Licences, plugins, stock assets and registrar fees are bought on your behalf at cost and are not refundable once purchased.
5One-off services
Emergency malware removal and speed optimisation sprints are fixed-fee and are delivered in days rather than weeks.
If we take on a malware cleanup and cannot clean the site, you are refunded in full. The 30-day reinfection guarantee that comes with a cleanup means we clean it again at no charge; it is not a second refund, and it lapses if the site is not on a plan that patches it, because nobody can guarantee a site that is not being updated.
A speed optimisation sprint carries a harder guarantee, because it is the one piece of work with an objective pass mark: if the template we optimise does not pass Core Web Vitals afterwards, you do not pay. The one thing that can make that impossible is a host we do not control, so we check that before taking the job and tell you if the server is the blocker rather than taking the fee and failing.
6Failed payments and suspension
If a scheduled payment fails we retry on days 1, 3 and 7. On day 8 the service is suspended — your site stays online, and support, updates and backups pause. On day 30 the plan terminates and your backups are kept for a further 30 days.
A suspension is not a refundable period: the charge that failed is still owed for the month it covers. Once payment clears, service resumes and nothing is lost.
7Chargebacks
If something has gone wrong, email us before you raise a chargeback. A chargeback costs us a fee and costs you the account, and in almost every case the thing you actually wanted was a conversation and a refund, which we can do in a day.
We will contest a chargeback raised for a service that was delivered as agreed, and we keep the delivery record — time logs, deployment history and correspondence — to do it with.
8How to ask for a refund
Email hello@ohmyweb.in from the address on the account, say what you are cancelling and why. You do not have to give a reason, but if the reason is something we got wrong we would rather hear it.
We reply within two business days and process an approved refund within seven, to the original payment method. Indian payments go back through Razorpay and international ones through Stripe; their own settlement times then apply, usually five to ten business days.
Cancellation notice and what happens to your data afterwards are in the service level agreement. Prices and billing terms are on the pricing page.
