Oh My Web

WordPress development services — custom themes, not a bought template.

We build WordPress sites the way they are meant to be built: a custom block theme, structured content, a short list of plugins we can defend, and a Lighthouse score above 95 on a phone. A business website is ₹1,50,000 / $3,900 and takes about six weeks, and then we keep it running.

The honest comparison

Custom theme, page builder, or a bought template

Everyone ranking for this phrase sells one of these three and argues the other two are wrong. All three are right sometimes. Here is when.

A page builder

Right when your team edits daily and the budget is tight

Elementor and its cousins are genuinely good at one thing: putting layout control in the hands of someone who does not write code. If a marketer needs to ship a landing page on a Thursday without asking anyone, that is worth real money.

You pay for it in page weight and in lock-in. The markup is heavier than it needs to be, Core Web Vitals get harder, and the content is stored in a format only that builder understands — so moving off it later is a rebuild, not an export.

A bought template

Right for a site that has to exist by Friday and will be replaced

A ₹4,000 theme with a demo import gets a business online in a week. For a first site, a campaign micro-site or a proof that the idea has customers, that is the correct decision and anyone telling you otherwise is selling.

It is a false economy the moment the site matters. Bought themes carry twenty features you do not use, a plugin bundle you did not choose, and an update cycle controlled by someone whose incentives are not yours. Most of the rescue work we take on starts here.

A custom block theme

Right when the site has to be fast, live for years, and be edited by several people

We build the blocks your content actually needs, so the editor offers a short list of things that all look right rather than a canvas where anything is possible and most of it is wrong. The output is the markup we wrote and nothing else.

It costs more up front and it is not worth it for a five-page brochure that changes twice a year. We will tell you when that is your situation.

What we build

Eight things, and most projects are three of them

If you are not sure which of these you need, that is what the first call is for.

  • Custom themes and child themes

Built from the content model outwards. No demo import, no thirty unused templates.

  • Gutenberg block development

Native blocks with real editor previews, so the person writing sees what the visitor gets.

  • ACF field architecture

Structured content that stays structured — the difference between a site you can redesign and one you have to retype.

  • WooCommerce

Stores, checkout customisation, shipping and tax rules, payment gateways, and the performance work a catalogue needs.

  • Multisite

One installation, many sites, shared code and separate content. Universities and multi-brand groups usually need this and rarely know it has a name.

  • REST API integrations

WordPress talking to a CRM, an ERP, a booking system or your own back end, with the failure cases handled.

  • Headless with a Next.js front end

WordPress as the editor, a modern front end for the visitor. Worth it for scale and speed; overkill for most sites, and we will say which you are.

  • Plugin development and repair

A small plugin built properly beats a large plugin bent into shape. We also fix other people's.

Standards

The numbers every build has to hit

These are the targets we hold our own site to, measured the same way. A standard nobody measures is a preference.

Lighthouse ≥ 95
Mobile, throttled, on performance and accessibility alike — not a desktop score screenshotted on a fast connection.
LCP under 2 seconds
Measured in the lab and watched in the field. The largest thing on the screen arrives before people decide to leave.
Zero layout shift
Every image and embed has its dimensions declared. Nothing jumps while you are reading it.
WCAG 2.1 AA
Contrast, focus states, keyboard operation and real landmarks, tested by hand and not only by a tool.
PHP 8.2 or newer
On a supported version, with the plugin set audited for anything unmaintained before it ships.
Staging first
Every change is tested on a copy. Nothing is edited on a live site, including by us.

If your existing site is nowhere near these, that is a speed optimisation sprint rather than a rebuild, and it is a great deal cheaper.

How a project runs

Discovery, design, build, staging, your review, launch, care. About six weeks for a ten-page site, and the variable is almost never our end — it is how fast content and approvals come back. The schedule says so out loud, with your dependencies marked.

Payment is 50% before work starts, 40% when you approve the staging build, 10% at launch. Nothing goes live until 90% is paid.

What it costs

  • Business website — ₹1,50,000 / $3,900. Up to ten pages, custom design, forms, structured data, six weeks.
  • Redesign — from ₹2,00,000 / $5,900. Existing content, redirect map and history carried across.
  • Smaller work — ₹1,500 / $25 an hour in five-hour packs, or inside a care plan.

Every price we charge

Before and after

What happens either side of the build

A site is not finished at launch. It is finished when somebody is responsible for it.

Already have a site?

If the content is fine and the design is tired, that is a redesign. If the design is fine and the host is the problem, that is a migration. They are different jobs at different prices.

After launch

A WordPress care plan from ₹4,999 / $79 a month: updates tested on staging, daily off-site backups, monitoring, malware cover and hours of real work. Attached by default, declinable on request.

Where it lives

You can stay on your host or move to ours at ₹1,499 / $24 a site. We will only push for the move if the host is genuinely the thing holding the site back.

Questions

WordPress questions, answered straight

How much does it cost to develop a WordPress website?

A business website — up to about ten pages, custom design, forms and structured data — is ₹1,50,000 / $3,900 and takes around six weeks. A redesign of an existing site starts at ₹2,00,000 / $5,900 because there is content, redirects and history to carry across. A store or an integration-heavy build is quoted from the scope.

How much does it cost to hire a WordPress developer?

By the hour we are ₹2,000 / $40 for agency and staff-augmentation work, in 40-hour blocks, and ₹1,500 / $25 for small pieces of work on a care plan. For a defined project we would rather quote it fixed.

Is WordPress outdated?

No, but the way most WordPress sites are built is. The platform under it has changed considerably — a block-based editing model, a proper REST API, modern PHP — while a large share of sites in the wild are still a decade-old theme with thirty plugins on top. That is what people are reacting to when they call it dated, and it is a build decision rather than a platform one.

Why are people moving away from WordPress?

Three honest reasons. Plugin sprawl makes a site fragile and slow, and it is the default outcome unless someone is disciplined about it. Hosted builders are genuinely easier for a simple brochure site. And a team with engineers often wants their content in an API rather than a theme. If any of those is your situation, we will tell you — we also build on other stacks, and a Shopify store or a headless front end is sometimes the right answer.

Do you use page builders?

When they are right for you, yes, and we say so above. What we will not do is build a site on one, tell you it is custom, and charge custom prices for it. If Elementor is right for your team, you will hear that on the first call.

Can you take over a site another agency built?

Most of what we onboard is exactly that. We start with an audit, tell you what we find, and fix what is urgent before anything else. We need admin access and the ability to take a staging copy. We do not need the previous agency's cooperation, though it helps.

Do I own the theme you build?

Yes, in full, once the project is paid for. The theme is code written for you, delivered in a repository you own, with no licence back to us. Third-party plugins keep their own licences and we buy them in your name where that is allowed.

What happens after launch?

Every build comes with a care plan attached by default, because a WordPress site with nobody applying updates is a security incident waiting for a date. Essential is enough for a brochure site; a store or a busy site wants Pro. You can decline it — we will just tell you plainly what you are taking on.
